Publisher: HMH Books for Young Readers
Release Date: May 3rd 2016
Genre: Young Adult, Contemporary, Romance, Realistic Fiction

Hadley St. Clair's life changed the day she came home to a front door covered in slips of paper, each of them revealing the ugly truth about her father. Now as her family falls apart in the wake of his year-long affair, Hadley wants everyone-her dad most of all-to leave her alone.
Then she meets Sam Bennett, a cute new boy who inexplicably "feels like home" to Hadley. Hadley and Sam's connection is undeniable, but Sam has a secret about his family that could ruin everything.
Funny and passionate, Suffer Love is a story about first love, family dysfunction, and the fickle hand of fate.

As soon as I picked up Suffer Love, I knew that it was going to be a different kind of contemporary, and boy was I right. The story follows Hadley St. Clair and Sam Bennett, both of whom live with families that have gone through affairs. They both also lived in Nashville at one point. After being partnered together in English class, their lives begin to intertwine. However, Sam has quite a big secret that he decides to never tell Hadley.

Hadley was such a unique character. She was known for not the greatest things at school but she was honestly a good person. As soon as I started reading through her point of view, I felt that she was misunderstood by others. She seemed to become a bad person in the eyes of others very easily when most of the time she hadn't even done anything wrong, such as the beginning incident with Josh.

Sam was also a great character. I really liked his story though he tended to go out of his way to spite his mother quite often, especially through the use of Hadley coming over to his house even though the two of them had a project that they had to do together. I also liked his little sister, Livvy, and his big-brother urges to always protect his little sister.

I honestly think that Ashley Herring Blake did such a great job with this book. The pacing was awesome because I never found myself bored with what I was reading. I also think that she expertly discussed cheating in families. I can't wait to read more by her in the future.
