A Novella About Adam (aka my least favorite Shatter Me character)

Fracture Me (Shatter Me, #2.5)Title: Fracture Me
Author: Tahereh Mafi
Series: Shatter Me #2.5
Publisher: HarperCollins
Release Date: December 17, 2013

In this electrifying sixty-page companion novella to the New York Times bestselling Shatter Me series, discover the fate of the Omega Point rebels as they go up against The Reestablishment. Set during and soon after the final moments of Unravel Me, Fracture Me is told from Adam's perspective.
As Omega Point prepares to launch an all-out assault on The Reestablishment soldiers stationed in Sector 45, Adam's focus couldn't be further from the upcoming battle. He's reeling from his breakup with Juliette, scared for his best friend's life, and as concerned as ever for his brother James's safety. And just as Adam begins to wonder if this life is really for him, the alarms sound. It's time for war.
On the battlefield, it seems like the odds are in their favor-but taking down Warner, Adam's newly discovered half brother, won't be that easy. The Reestablishment can't tolerate a rebellion, and they'll do anything to crush the resistance... including killing everyone Adam has ever cared about.

As I'm not a huge fan of Adam, I don't have much to say about this novella. I did like that it gave me an inside look of Adam's thoughts, which did make him grow on me a bit. I think I only ever didn't like him because I hated that he was with Juliette. I just didn't see what Juliette ever saw in him, probably because I was just so team Warner the whole time. However, this short story did make me appreciate Adam as a character, and I'm excited to read more about him in the future.

Also, as always, Mafi's writing style was gorgeous. She brings all her characters to life so well. I feel like I really know Adam now.

  2. I read the novellas such a long time ago, so I don't remember much. But I was also a huge Warner fan from the get go. :) I just got Restore Me, so hopefully I'll enjoy it!

  3. It's amazing how quickly I defected from TeamAdam. I felt so betrayed by him. I think Mafi tried to make him more likable, but I just wasn't buying it. I do believe I have heard people saying they like him more after the 4th book. I haven't gotten to read it yet (because I am trash), but I am definitely interested in seeing how Mafi improved on that situation.

  4. I've noticed you've been reading and reviewing this series. This is one I still haven't read. I am always debating if it's worth it since so many didn't like the way it ended in book three or did like the ending, but had issues with the plotting and whatnot. So I put it off because there are so many series I have started and am behind on and need to read. But now I'm thinking maybe I do need to read it... Hmm.

  6. I only read the first book and I never liked any of the characters... I was never connected to any of them but when I read that Juliette and Warner were a thing I was like "NOPE" and have never touched the series again. So I never understood all the Adam hate... I assumed he did something bad in the next books (?)
