So what’s the game now? This, or the life I used to know?
When Miki Jones is pulled from her life, pulled through time and space into some kind of game—her carefully controlled life spirals into chaos. In the game, she and a team of other teens are sent on missions to eliminate the Drau, terrifying and beautiful alien creatures. There are no practice runs, no training, and no way out. Miki has only the guidance of secretive but maddeningly attractive team leader Jackson Tate, who says the game isn’t really a game, that what Miki and her new teammates do now determines their survival, and the survival of every other person on this planet. She laughs. He doesn’t. And then the game takes a deadly and terrifying turn.

Rush was a rush. Yeah, I guess that's a bit ironic. Anyway, Rush is about a girl named Miki. One day, she starts hearing voices in her head, though she doesn't know where the voices are coming from as she doesn't recognize the voice. Right as a kid is about to be hit by a car, the voice tells Miki to do something and she ends up saving the kid. The only thing is, this causes her death. The other thing is, she doesn't die.

Miki ends up in a different place with other teenagers. She finds out that she actually died, though she is being given a chance to stay alive. Miki must help fight the Drau, who are aliens. She must also try to stay alive while fighting otherworldly creatures in a video game-like manner. There's points and life points involved. If Miki's wrist bracelet gets to red, that means death. She needs to keep it on green for as long as possible.

Basically, if she makes it through the mission, she will be brought back to real life at the exact second that she exited. She will then continue on with life just as it was, until she is pulled yet again for another mission. This will continuously happen, unless she dies in the game. If she dies in the game, the original and first time that she died will actually be her real death. Nobody will remember her after that time that she saved the child from the car. Miki also can't talk about any of her other teammates, because nobody knows that they actually know each other. She also can't mention the Drau because they are always watching.

There are other teenagers that must be in these missions as well, such as the kids on Miki's team. Miki has to try to pass the missions with her team-the more people the better. Jackson Tate is in charge of the team. Jackson is a really flirty guy who is really great at killing and defeating other aliens. He's also behind the voice in Miki's head. I really enjoyed Jackson's character. I don't know what it is about him, but I just love him. Luka was also on Miki's team. Luka went to school with Miki, which can be found odd as people from the same town are usually not both fighting the Drau. Luka was a great friend, and I really liked him for that. He was always there for Miki when some of Miki's girlfriends weren't. Richelle and Tyrone were also on the team. Miki really thinks that she and Richelle will end up being close friends, as she seems nice. Tyrone clearly likes Richelle a lot.

Rush had one of the best concepts that I've read about in a long time. I always like finding out what will happen after death in a sci-fi way. There was definitely something for everybody in this book: romance, aliens, and video games. It's just one of the coolest mixes ever! I'm definitely excited to read the sequel, whenever it comes out. The ending really made this book a 5 star review for me. That ending was just... I don't even know how to explain it. I just can't find words. You'll understand to if you pick up this book!
